Choosing a fertilizer depends on the soil and the crop’s needs — there’s no universal solution, but there are guidelines that make the decision easier.
The N-P-K balance
The three numbers on the label (e.g. 15-15-15) show the percentage of nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P) and potassium (K). Nitrogen drives green growth, phosphorus supports root development and flowering, and potassium affects fruit quality and plant resilience.
A balanced fertilizer for general use
If you haven’t had the soil tested, a balanced fertilizer (equal N-P-K, such as YaraRega 15-15-15) is a safe choice at the start of the season.
When and how often
Overdosing is just as harmful as underdosing — it can burn roots or push excessive leaf growth at the expense of fruit. Follow the rate stated on the packaging per hectare or square metre.
